The mornings on Earth began with the Fire. In the Water Kingdoms, the morning began with ablutions to the Water.
The Water rises and the water melts during the day.
When the water melts the Kingdoms rise and when the water freezes they sleep.
The light on Ganymede comes from the stormy Jupiter, the fiery source of fire which mercies none yet mercies the clans.
But here on Earth the clans of Water had to follow the rules of Earth.
Here the rules of Earth bonded them to the core of this very Earth.
Fire was what all prayed.
Fire made Earth habitable and Water made Ganymede habitable for these pure beings.
“Did you see the Sun Mama? It looks so beautiful.”
“Yes, didn’t we see it from Kiribati also child?”
“We did but then this is more beautiful, a vast expanse of water and the borderless skies. The wind is
cooler here, over here Mama.”
“Yes sweetheart. We are on the fringe of the Pacific and the Indian Ocean.”
Limie was mopping the deck and it was almost ten in the morning.
She had put the fish to roast and Golmak sat in the cabin writing letters. Limie was happy that she would finally see the shore and more people.
At one point she thought that Golmak was not the right guy but now that he was going to the office, seeking for permissions to move into the Atlantic and the Pacific, she knew she could probably believe him, even if not trust him.
“Loimi we will touch the land by tomorrow. I have to take you to the doctor and I must buy all your medicines and vials.. I have enough with me to help us now. But I need to talk to Golmak about how to have more money so that next time we land somewhere and if we need anything then how do we manage? You stay right here.”
“Sure Mama, I will be here watching the Sea birds. The wing of one of them is so huge it casts a shadow upon me often.”
Limie smiled, “You know the name of that bird?”
“No Mama, do you know it?”
“Yes, it’s the SeaGull but I will tell you later after I come back for lunch. If the Sun is too harsh, go back to the room and stay there, it would be cooler. Do not catch a cold.”
“Yes Mama. I have to save myself. You know I always catch cold. I catch cold for nothing at all and my palms and feet are always damp, moist and clammy and cold. I do not have friends, back there girls were jealous of me, I can’t lie, I can’t fight, I feel mercy towards my enemies. My life was very hard until now and so I have heard it was my Mama’s too.”
Loimi had a guest, a small bird with a long beak which sat quietly on the tension wire and waited for the small fishes which Golmak fed it every day almost at this time.
But it heard Loimi and knew very well who Loimi was. The Universe is a big web. Each time a being rises to wear it’s real role on Earth, the whole Universe stands to witness it.
