The world once bright with open skies

Now clouded over, filled with sighs

A creeping dusk, a quiet din,

A storm that rises deep within.

Words once kind now cut and bruise,

The light of hope begins to lose.

A bitter taste in every breath,

As fear and anger whisper death.

The laughter fades, replaced with doubt,

We tear each other, drag them out.

Opinions clash, with no regard,

For all the wounds we’ve left unmarred.

The earth, it trembles, worn and torn,

As hearts grow cold, spirits worn.

Neglect has found a fertile home

As trust and love no longer roam.

But in the dark, a flicker still,

A spark, a voice, a quiet will.

If we unite and seek the light, We may, together, end the fight.

For shadows thrive where hearts divide,

But hope will rise when love’s our guide.

(inspired  by the growing negativism all around)
