Golmak and the guide went through the door, it creeked as though pained for having to open or close. Golmak perhaps felt it’s pain.
They went through a large garden, unkempt, and destroyed by the wind, green, climbing, and peeking through the dark tubs from which grew the plants out callosly and carelessly.
The door to the home that was covered in green and spider webs had another green door and a pale green door mat hung over it. The door was wooden and was not latched. The old man just pulled out the door and beckoned Golmak to walk behind him.
He obeyed and inside he went. The entire area was a garden cum kitchen and a girl and a man sat at the far corner of it. The girl was in her twenties and she looked frail and pale. The man was in his thirties and his eyes were big, smiling, and quite inviting.
Golmak went to them and sat on a table close to theirs nodding at them as they nodded back at him.
“I guess we should introduce ourselves. I am Branga Brighu and she is Tahiti. We met quite a few times through our travel agency and it so happens to be that our tastes match so we end up going to the same places. But this is brilliant, I guess you are getting tuned in to our tunes now Golmak.” Branga smiled.
“Wait, you know my name?”
“Yes, Rafael told us your name.”
“Are we picking up more people on the way or how is it, like we three alone would be visiting this place?” Golmak was now firmly seated on his chair and was facing the duo.
“You don’t know?” Branga just gathered his brows closer and just seemed slightly taken aback.
“Know what?” Golmak sipped his cuppa that Rafael brought him.
“You see, we three are the only ones who need this trip right now. That’s the reason the newspaper was sent to you. You got it since you needed it.”
Rafael stood close to Golmak who was now feeling scared and unsure of the choices he seemed to have made.
He turned to face Rafael, who without wasting a minute began talking, “you see Golmak, your father was one of us and his untimely demise has put our whole program in jeopardy. We don’t know how to fill this role up and then we went through all the confusions and the pain you hold within yourself so after seeing you for all these days we decided to see if we could recruit you. We have been trying to revive this earth not for these time periods but for the ones that are coming. To do what we need to do, we need humans who can help us. This trip is a mere test where you get a chance to understand us and we get a chance to understand you. If you think it’s not for you, you can return to your life. We will keep it a secret and we can feed you the juice pulp of Pitachi to help you forget whatever you would witness there on the island. But I am sure, your father was preparing you to join us and his work now needs to be done by us if you may allow.”
