“Why are you looking backwards Loimi? Move on.” Limie typed in her writepad.
“Nothing Mom, it’s just the witches, I am worried about.” Loimi punched back.
“Well, can we focus on swimming instead? Loimi you need to know there are no witches underwater, there are only sharks and hammerheads, some eels and ray fish, and yes, of course, a great deal of octopus around this region, some stinging jellyfish, so you should be careful of them. Witches are for the land and not for the seas.”
“Yeah, but…..” Loimi was typing when Golmak punched back.
“We head north and after the plains, there is a small dip over there, a small hole, we need to get in there and that is going to take us where we are heading. So turn left.”
Limie and Loimi nodded and headed left. Golmak headed right as they stood in a rough circle before dispersing.
He waved at them and beckoned them forward.
As they inched closer to the hole, Limie’s heart thumped louder. She had never been into any adventure by will. Loimi was curious and her pupils had grown bigger and wider and had fairly adjusted to the dimness under water.
“Loimi, stop looking backwards.” Limie punched in again.
“No, momma, they are coming. Look.” Limie looked back out of pure reflexes and was startled to find two looming, round figures moving towards them at breakneck speed.
“Hurry.” Golmak had opened his mouth gear to shout at them.
Within a second they all had taken the leap of faith and had jumped into what seemed like the pit within the ocean. But then it was no pit but a vacuum tunnel, rather one ended which closed on the ocean side while flushing them straight down or perhaps up, Limie had no idea. Her mind was awake and she did not close her eyes, since the fall seemed like a stellar event to her. The shimmering light was mildly blue and danced past her with green and red dots standing out like freckles on the blue shimmering path.
She could not hear anyone nor could she hear her own cry. She gauged it as a total vacuum and was amazed by this breathtaking find. The Earth has never been so mysterious as it seemed now to be, a layer of dullness when sliced open contained a myriad of mysteries, waiting to be solved perhaps.
But then the long fall came to an end and no longer were they falling, she saw not just Loimi and Golmak dropping down but there were three more bodies which fell after them. Her eyes closed embracing the darkness for a while to recover the body from what it had been subjected to, a minute back.
