“I don’t think I have a severed memory, I was born here on Earth. I am sure. Golmak you can’t always tell stories or be ready for a smack right on the head.” Limie stopped Golmak in his way.
“Why would I tell stories, for I am not a storyteller. I am Golmak, the seafarer, the old seafarer. I know that the king’s daughter is here, on Earth and that the king waits for her return.”
“Which king?” Loimi was curious since if her mom was a Princess then she must be the Princess’s daughter and it meant freedom from the hard life she led here on Earth.
Golmak was now looking down at Loimi with loving eyes, but then he bent down to touch her.
“The king of the biranorrs, King Sorgnoriuntele and Queen Selvine. I have heard.”
“The water kingdom, you mean?” Loimi looked far at the Sea and its lashing waves seemed quite merciless, pounding and thrashing across the shore like they had no feelings.
“Yes, one of the water kingdoms, I mean. The story is old, as old as the land and its story.”
“What?” Loimi was small and so was her brain.
“Yes, I will tell you some other time, but now we need to plunge into the Ocean without being seen.”
“Ohh aww! But, I think there is a man running towards us, look he is coming down the stairs of the temple and is looking at us and is heading towards us.” An urgency in Loimi’s voice sprang both Limie and Golmak into action.
They turned but the man was still too tiny to be recognized. However, by the way he was speeding down the sandy shore, it was almost certain he had spotted them. The man had now climbed down the stairs and was running on the sandy beach.
“Then we must hurry now.” Saying this, Golmak began putting the jackets hurriedly around Loimi and Limie took one and strapped it around her while their eyes were fixed on the approaching man.
It took just 4 minutes to tie up the straps and almost all three ran while adjusting their cylinders on their backs with their face covers struggling to move down their faces.
The man tried hurrying but fell not once but twice and then stopped abruptly when he saw the trio vanishing in the waves that rose high up, as if to engulf all three. He knew it was too late, so he got up and ran in the opposite direction this time.
It took him almost no time to reach a man whose ship was returning with a bunch of scuba divers right then.
“Can I rent your boat and can you come with me?” Nolan had no time.
“Get off my boat, hey you! Leave it. Hey!” The man was running behind Nolan but then Nolan was already in the sea and there was no stopping him.
“Burglar, thief, wait, hey you, monster.” The man was now swimming towards the boat quickly as though gliding in the waters. Nolan was still trying to figure out the way it worked, fumbling through several switches.
“Hey you got to leave it!” The man was holding onto Nolan’s neck now and he pressed his hands tightly around Nolan’s windpipe.
“Wgait, neave ne…..will stels you.” Nolan was choking. But then hearing it, the man loosened his grip slightly.
“Tell me fast and don’t try anything clever or I will have to kill you.” He spoke under his gritted teeth.
“Fine,” Nolan coughed to come out of the attack and then clutching his chest, flung his arm outwards towards the fast disappearing steamer cum yacht structure.
“I need to follow that, they are in danger and there is a kid on it. Can you help me rescue the kid?”
Nolan looked at the man straight into his eyes still heaving for breath.
“You mean an abduction? Ohhh! I am sorry, let me help you then.”
He took out his mobile and made a few phone calls before speeding the boat towards Loimi’s fast sailing boat.
“Now, we will catch him, don’t worry!” The man smiled out reassuringly at Nolan as he sat quietly catching up on his breath.
But then something strange happened when Nolan’s boat had almost caught speed and was now following Loimi’s boat closely.
The boat in front seemed to be climbing the air on one end whereas the other end remained stuck to the waters. There was nothing visibly managing that strange occurrence and no one witnessed it other than these two. It was quite early in the morning and tourist rides had not yet begun. Most people offered prayers in the temples and then came down for boat rides slowly trickling, filling the sea with tourists by afternoon.
Slowly right in front of their eyes, the boat carrying Loimi, Limie and Golmak began capsizing now standing completely vertical on a sea full of water. The ship started going down and yet, there was no sign of any panic that could be witnessed within the yacht cum steamer.
“Is anybody in it alive still?” The boatman had never seen something as such.
“Did Golmak kill them then? Is he there or did he escape? My God! What the hell? What to do now?” Nolan stared back at the sinking steamer with horror filled eyes.
Golmak meanwhile was busy searching his sack for he knew the capsized boat would come toppling down his head in no time. Loimi and Limie barely had slipped into the cold water when the cold splash seemed to awaken them.
“What the hell?” Loimi typed in her new waterproof machine.
“Yes dear, we are into it together now, don’t worry.” Golmak typed back.
They all had these water proof phones with them, resistant to water pressure and temperature changes and had a wonderful new look. Even when there was no internet signal, yet there was this writing pad that was actually mirroring each other’s writing pad so whoever used it could actually see what the other person was typing and respond to it.
With no degrees but years of working in electronic shops and stores, Golmak had invented something he shared only with these two women.
“How do we manage?” Limie punched in.
“Well, we go to the temple that is South-South-East and then we see. Hurry, we have to wade through a lot of water so we better not hang in here.”
Soon they were off and vanished within rocks turning and tossing their way through schools of fish and huge sea turtles which were happily munching a morning feast, unaware of the presence of these three hapless creatures.
The expanse of the sea quite alarmed Loimi, who had never seen it so deep. But, Limie was feeling relaxed and quite warm inside the suit very unlike her previous diving experiences.
