The Story of the World, the Sand and the Snow

It was barely ten minutes back when they had seen a swollen sea but now there was nothing again. It was a deathly calm all around them.

Limie sat on the chair, Golmak on another and Loimi chose to stand close to her mother.

“What the hell was happening?” Golmak suddenly resounded. He was sweating profusely. He wiped it with his towel and drank another glass of water from the jug on the table after which he puffed again “Great, now you guys are important. I am a rock; no one even looks at me.” The stark white walls and his floral shirt were antagonising each other.

“Who is Sorgnoriuntele?” Limie asked.

“That’s a question we need to find out.” Golmak suddenly turned his attention from his ego to the quest in hand. He loved quests and this was like a hot cake on his platter.

“We will find out about Limie & Loimi. They spoke about the seven kingdoms right? It means the seven water kingdoms. If these were Dolphins there has to be six more which leaves us with these Ray Fishes, Biranorrs, the large Sea Monsters or dinosaurs or the dragons in one, Whales and the Sea Mammals on the other next would be Sharks of all kinds, the fifth must be Liquid creatures and the strangest of all forms in the Water Kingdom including all other tiny fishes of the Universe and, then comes the Scorpions Kingdom and the Crab Kingdom.”

“Now, how on Earth do you know that?”

“I know. I have read about them.”

“Sure. Tell us more.” Loimi seemed quite excited.

“No wait, so you mean I could belong to any of these six. Am I the daughter? If so, then what are they doing for all these years? Am I not old enough to go home or for such expeditions? I do not understand what form of a joke Nature is trying to play upon me and Loimi.”

“I bet we are the Ray fish.” Loimi giggled. Her sand pepper hair was very unusual for a child on Earth.

“Shut up, don’t joke.” Limie was tense but somewhere within her mind or heart a small sound resounded away from a larger voice, which also repeated the term Ray Fish. It was odd. She knew very little about Ray Fishes.

“Where is your mark, show?” Golmak went closer to Limie. He pulled his chair closer to hers. She stretched her arm out.

On her palm was a small mark, glowing fluorescent blue droplet and beneath it was the symbol of a dolphin. It was again a watermark sort of thing, embossed on her skin, it looked as though it was made of fluorescent plastic.

“We hid it from you, but that night, I think Loimi had not dreamt of the Biranorr but the Biranorr was right here. Her arm has a watermark too, certainly of a different kind. Look.” Limie took Loimi’s arm and stretched it forward for Golmak to see.

The wind was pausing at times, blowing brightly at other times. The room was hot now; it was not less than a hot furnace if words had to be formed around what it was like to be inside the Cap’s Room.
